MEANWHILE, MOLOCH OPENS WIDER

In the latest update from Iraq -- the country that's not experiencing a Civil War -- we learn that:
* insurgents set off a car bomb to stop a minibus carrying Shiite government employees in Baghdad, then shot and killed 15 of them

* two car bombs exploded in a commercial district, killing 15 other Iraqis

* an attack on an American military patrol in Baghdad on Monday killed one soldier and wounded five

* another U.S. serviceman also died in southern Iraq in an accident involving his vehicle.

* these deaths came after a weekend during which 13 American service members died in Iraq, including four whose Sea Knight helicopter plunged into a lake in volatile Anbar province on Sunday.

* on Nov. 30, gunmen fired at a convoy carrying an official from the Shiite Endowment (a government agency that looks out for Shiite Mosques and helps Shiites get to work), killing him and three of his bodyguards in Basra, the largest city in mostly Shiite southern Iraq.
Imagine how out of control things would be if they were embroiled in a Civil War.

Meanwhile, Bush told Iraqi Shiite leader Abdul-Aziz al-Hakim that "the U.S. supports his work and the work of the prime minister to unify the country. Part of unifying Iraq is for the elected leaders and society leaders to reject the extremists that are trying to stop the advance of this young democracy."

Why do they need to "unify" a country that's not in a Civil War?

And more importantly, when will the mainstream press and our elected representatives in Washington admit to themselves that our leadership has no plan to do anything except continue crushing the infrastructure, society, and future of a nation we've willfully destroyed, as well as feeding our children to the meatgrinder we've built and installed there?

When will those with power, or a powerful voice, do something to stop this madness?

MSNBC already has. I don't know about the others.

Sorry, you'll have to wait until January when the next Congress is sworn in.

Is it all of MSNBC, or just Olbermann? Isn't Chris Matthews on that network?

I'm not holding my breath for January. The only way Congress or the Press can overcome the ecexutive's stubbornness here is to really step up and fight. This requires more than parliamentarianism or "investigative" pieces.

Ok, I can say with certainty that it's Olbermann. I haven't watched Matthews lately so I don't know where he's at. However, David Gregory has been butting heads with Tony Snow (not to mention his predecessor) over Iraq. Most recently, he accused the administration of hypocrisy over the Rumsfeld memo.

David Gregory

Good for him. I'll admit I didn't know who he was til I looked him up just now. Seems like a firebrand. We need more White House reporters with stones.

Pretty amazing how W can say one thing to the public and then turn around and do something else. I guess he'll say,
"Oh yeah, the job's done. I told ya'll
we'd be there until the job's done and we did that." And the reality of the situation will be no different.

He defines reality from one moment to the next.
