THE MORE THINGS CHANGE . . .

So three years ago (not to the day, but damn close) I pulled my head out of the hole in the wall into which I'd rammed it and fell into a fitful sleep. Visions of Yadier "Fucking" Molina's home run teased my mind, but I managed to get a few hours.

And when I woke up I tried to convince myself that with three young studs in Wright, Reyes, and Beltran, the Mets would be all right.

And they were until about 150 games through the 2007 season.

Anyway, this past season they sent their entire starting lineup, 4/5 of the rotation, 2/3 of the front office, and 16.3 million of their fans onto the DL before limping in at an abysmal 70-92.

But all that is sorta ok in the big picture. It sucks, but what are you gonna do? That's not what has me so damn exorcised that I'm actually posting for the first time in about 6 months. No, you know what really, really, REALLY blows?

The FUCKING YANKEES just added another goddamn title to their gaudy total. To recap: Mets suck for the umpteenth time in my life. Yet again, they rode the wave, won ungatz, and now suck balls. By way of contrast, the Yankees won their 7th World Series of my lifetime.

I will now stick my head back in the Yadier "Fucking" Molina hole and not remove it til opening day.

Love the Jon Stewart line: "I'm a Mets fan, so when I heard tonight it would be a Yankees-Phillies it felt just like coming home to discover your wife fucking the Yankees and the Phillies."

Hey Mike did I tell you I actually went to 2 Mets games last season? One was opening day at the new stadium. Marriage is weird, huh?

I'm guessing you're happy with the progress the Jets have made, no?

Yo, Mike. Did those Katrina bankers kidnap you?

That goes without saying.

Did those Katrina bankers kidnap you?

Certainly feels like it. But in reality, I hope the bankers feel like I kidnapped them. Working harder than ever in my life, taking depositions, making the case, etc. Very rewarding if not exhausting.

So, was I right? It was an add for a Sony HD television?

Thanks for asking. It still hurts a lot, but it is supposed to. You just have no frame of reference to know what to expect. Consequently, it will be worse than you expected.

In short, I'm okay. How are you?

Same as it's been for months & months - busy, but good.

The (Chinese?)characters from anonymous.

I guess if we ever wanted to know what America would look like if it were run for the benefit of its largest corporations, we just have to stay tuned.

Just stopping by to say hello.

I've had a few online friends pass away recently.

Here's hoping that you're just Away From the Keyboard...

You okay?

Yes, I'm fine. Very busy, as I've been for months now.

Also, and I suspect I'll finally post when the moment comes, Mrs. Mike is going to bring . . . uhhh, a little "Mike" into the world shortly.

He won't be Mike Jr., but you get the idea.

How are you doing?

That is fabulous news. More than congratulation. Love.

I’m okay. I’ve been mostly unhappy, but I am suppose to be. Tonight I am rejoicing with Mr. and Mrs. Mike.
Mozeltov or whatever.

Kind words. I appreciate it.

To continue this to it's logical conclusion, you're a true mensch.

Anyhow, hang in there man. Time, time, time. That's what it's gonna take. Time doesn't really heal all wounds . . . but it heals a lot of them.

Yo, Mike.

Hope you're getting traction suing Lloyd and Goldman.

Trust you'll give us an update before Little Mike is old enough to be chewing tabacco.

Regards to the Missus.

Maybe we'll get that case. We'll see. But we were rather successful suing another of the Big Boys.

Lil' Mike (not his name) is 6 1/2 weeks old and doing well. Mrs. Mike is tired, but also doing well.

Me? I'm good, but still having a hard time believing I'm a dad.

You? How's it going? Traveling much? Dubai and that sort of thing? Hitting the links while you have the chance?

The more that seeps out about how the financial crisis came to be, the more I want to see somebody sharing a cell with Big Leroy. And these schmoes go before congress and talk like it was an earthquake or hurricane. Give them hell.
I haven’t traveled much, but am going to Paris at the end of the month for a conference and will stay on a few days to see the sights. Playing golf, but poorly. Hope the Mets are bringing more satisfaction than the Astros.

A small, cheap hotel near the Louvre on Rue Molliere, Pavillon Louvre Rivoli. I'm more excited than I've been in a while. It looks like a great city.
Au revoir.

Yo, Mike.
Best to the Missus and Little Mike.

Paris is beautiful. The smoking must keep them thin.

I took a week out to the mountains of New Mexico--very cool and nice at 8500 feet. And west Texas has some pretty interesting vistas.

As we do all summer in Houston, praying for fall.

Hope all is well.

Good to hear. Wish I had your email address, so we could occasionally communicate thru some medium other than the comments to a dormant/dead blog!

Feel like throwing it my way, I can (almost) guarantee I'll see it and then delete the comment before anyone else sees it - since I doubt anyone pokes his head in here more than once every three or four months.
