IS SOMETHING SPINNING?

AP reports that gunmen tried -- but failed -- to storm the American embassy in Damascus, Syria today.

I know nothing about this story, have no insights into its validity, its actual import, its role in global strategy. No idea.

But two things I know for sure:

1. The Administration will use this in its favor.
2. The press will faithfully regurgitate every syllable that comes out of Tony Snow's or Bush's mouth, with no analysis, skepticism, challenging, or questioning.

Wait, what's that? Do I hear drums beating?

I didn't even know we had an embassy in Syria. Are they sure it wasn't just a KFC?

The sound of drumsticks beating, huh?

The attackers initially thought it was a KFC, but discovered their error too late. Asking the guard for a bucket of extra crispy went down fine, but it was that middle-eastern accent in "biscuit" that tipped him off that something wasn't right.

From there it was only a matter of connecting the dots, realizing KFC's not halal, and before you knew it, gunfire filled the Damascus air.

Didn't even need to wake the Colonel.
