A BRIEF SUMMARY OF RECENT SENATE VOTES. IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T BEEN PAYING ATTENTION
1. Vote To Bring The Troops Home: a majority favors the measure, but because there's no veto-proof/filibuster-proof super-majority, the Dems take the measure off the table, never bothering to dare the President to explain his veto, or forcing the GOPers to shut down congress with a showboating filibuster.
2. Vote To Restore The Writ Of Habeus Corpus For "Enemy Combatants": see 1, above.
3. Vote To "Condemn" Move-On.org For It's Scurrilous, Scandalous, Spurious, Libelous, Temeritous, Outrageousous, And Americahatingous Ad Calling General Petraeus "General Betray Us": A smashing victory in favor, with an easy super-majority of 73 votes.
Still think the Dems are "fighting for us"?

Which explains why Congress has a historic low approval rating of 11%.
11%? Is that true?
Um. No. They are only fighting for their jobs.
The governance of the country and teh oversight of our lunatic Prez is nonexistent.
The Senate's filibuster rules have been the same for more than 20 years. Keep in mind that changing them for this would mean changing them for other things. For example, I doubt you would have wanted different rules when the Democratic minority was filibustering Bush's judiciary picks.
I don't want different rules.
I want the Dems to FIGHT. Force the GOP to filibuster. Force Bush to issues vetos. Force the issue.
Dear dwpittelli--
The Dems never did filibuster the judicial picks, for fear of the nuclear option.
You can look it up.
HAHAHAHAHAHA111
Not my gubbermint.
I sat there and listened to Ahmadinejad speak for fifteen minutes. I can't stand to listen to chimpy for fifteen seconds. This country is so screwed up it ain't funny.
I'm fairly confident that I heard the 11% figure stated on Countdown last week. But even W was in the upper 20's.
And how about some form of legislation addressing Bush's use of "signing statements?"
Seems like the legislative branch would be a little concerned about the executive branch, well, legislating FOR THEM.
Mets lose, Phillies win. The Eagles sux rox, so I guess they need the Phillies to do good. Oh well.
Mets lose million$. How can they lose what they never had? This must be a sign of the apocalypse.
Oh, I've been paying attention. And I'm getting more and more disgusted with each passing day.
Hardly anyone has any spine these days.
You ever think that if you didn't post for a year, items 1 and 2 might still be awaiting votes?
While that's possible to probable, I hope you blog again before then.
