START THE PLAYOFFS!

Ok, as far as I'm concerned, the baseball regular season can end right now. The Mets beat the shit out the very same team that ended the 2006 season so dramatically, less than six months ago.

Nice.

Glavine pitched well, the Mets played sweet defense as 'Stache took my advice and showed up wearing nothing but leather (assless chaps, plus the cheesy moustache, in the R-rated version), Moises Alou hustled and didn't get hurt, and the entire team managed to avoid having Phat (as in "Fat") Albert Poo-Holes fall on them. Good stuff all around.

A few brief thoughts for a lovely opening night:

1. Joe Morgan told Jon Miller, "You know I never cared much about statistics."

We know, Joe. Then he added, "Use statistics to embellish your point; don't let statistics be your point."

Uhhhh, so in other words, "Engage in pure sophistry"? is that what he meant? Keith! Ron! Gary! Come back! (Just leave Chris Cotter.)

2. Again, I can't believe how good those 4 DPs were last night. Only one of them was a sure GIDP off the bat, and two of them (Wright's medium hop & 'Stache's Stab) looked like base hits. Old Man Valentin was my player of the game last night.

3. Where was that for-shit squeeze attempt last October when Ron Belliard was up??? Ayyyyy-eeeeee-ayyyyy.

4. Fuck Yadier Molina.

5. Although Wagner was predictably shaky in his first appearence, he looked to have some decent velocity. Not a bad sign.

Here's to 2-0 on Tuesday. let's Go Mets.
