GROUND-BREAKING NEWS UPDATE

Word from those in the know says that The Freedom Tower being built!

Yeah, right.

According to AP, New York's new Governor, Eliot Spitzer, has "signed off" on construction of the 1776 foot Freedom Tower.

Ok.

For those not scoring at home, this now makes 1776 promises of "starting construction" in the five years and five months since the original towers came down. I don't care about promises or predictions. I just say . . .

Build Something! A tower, an office building, a 15 story apartment complex, a delicatessen, a T-Mobile shop, I don't care. Just get rid of that fucking hole in the ground.

I still think a park is the proper monument.

No building would be adequate to stand as a testament.

A park, a parking lot, doesn't matter. Build SOMETHING.

Amen Mike.

Build a tower. I would prefer something better than the POS they came up with, but anything is better than nothing.

I'm with Mike. The Empire State Building was constructed in one year. There's no excuse for the delay. Sensitivity to those who died on 9/11 isn't what's holding this up, it's just bureaucratic red tape.

Was Jesus insensitive to say, "let the dead bury the dead."?

5 years is a long time to be burying.

Sensitivity aside, I can't feel what a 9/11 victim's family member feels and I am sure there is a lack of closure that watching someone you love die in a hospital or at home provides. And with one death and many mourners I think we obtain a sense of having celebrated that person's life and said good bye. I am sorry they didn't get that, but I don't know why we have to make a memorial out of every tragedy. Maybe just thumb our collective nose at the perpetrator.
It is officially cocktail hour in Houston. Good day.

Nor do I. Part of the continuing pussy-ization of America.

Olbermann ripped the administration apart on the 5-year anniversary with one of his "special comments". He knew 4 people who died that day. I can't say anything more except that it's worth reading.

The video is there too if you'd rather just watch/listen rather than read.
