OUR DEMISE: EXHIBIT B

In the latest chapter of humanity's downward spiral into permanent infancy, we learn from a study by eminent psychiatrists that what we've long called "anger," "rage" "tantrums" or "unacceptable behavior" is actually . . . Intermittent Explosive Disorder.

No. Not made up. Sorry.

Some actual excerpts from the piece, written by the "A.P. Medical Writer":
According to Dr. Emil Coccaro, chairman of psychiatry at the University of Chicago's medical school, "People think it's bad behavior and that you just need an attitude adjustment, but what they don't know ... is that there's a biology and cognitive science to this."

Road rage, temper outbursts that involve throwing or breaking objects and even spousal abuse can sometimes be attributed to the disorder, though not everyone who does those things is afflicted.

By definition, intermittent explosive disorder involves multiple outbursts that are way out of proportion to the situation.
(Emphases added). Read back through the phrases I've emphasized. Every one of these can be classified as anger, and should not be acceptable behavior from an adult. If folks need help dealing with whatever causes their rage, that's fine. I'm not judging them.

But this outrageous "medicalization" of plain old bad behavior is the real disease in our society.
