BE FUNNY . . . OR ELSE

Well here's a headline you don't see everyday:
Two Clowns Shot Dead At Circus
Now, to the facts, as reported by Reuters:

1. It happened in Colombia. Colombians shoot their own soccer players, so maybe this isn't so weird down there. Maybe clowning is a top-10 "dangerous job" in Colombia, up there with cocaine cartel chief, police officer, and soccer player.

2. Shakira, who own the title "Most Dangerous Ass On Earth," is Colombian. I'm not sure that explains anything about clowns getting shot at the circus, but it seems important.

(Oh, and before you google "Shakira most dangerous ass on earth," I warn you that the only hit sure to match your search will be to this blog.)

3. Most importantly, Police Chief Jose Humberto Henao assured the press that, "The killings had nothing to do with the show the victims were performing at the time of the incident."

This will surely come as a relief to all Colombian clowns who are considered "good" at what they do. Up-and-comers still working on their clowning skills, however, may be less assured.

Don't mess with clowns. They can strike back at any time. Under that amusing facade often lurks a deeply disturbed person. Sideshow Bob and the ghost of John Wayne Gacy are headed down to Colombia to exact their revenge. Be afraid, be very afraid.

I can see that. I advise you to contact Mort and find out if you can catch a ride with Sideshow & Mr. Gacy. You must get your vengeance!

Thanks, Mort. But The Clown thinks that he will hitch a ride with Shakes and the Rodeo Clowns.

Excellent. The bad taste-o-meter goes up, as we shift from joking about people killed while wearing make-up, and head straight for cannibalism.

Well done, Marked. Who's next?

Mike, I was going to correct you about Shakira's title, but then it hit me that W. acutally holds the title of "Most Dangerous Asshole in the World."

They retired the name, in fact. His plaque is going up in Monument Park next week.

As funny as the second pic is, in this context the first one's funnier.

from Wiki:

According to Escobar's girlfriend, the killer shouted "¡Gooooooooooooool!" (mimicking South American sporting commentators for their calls after a goal is scored) for each of the 12 bullets fired.

That should make Latin Americans think twice about playing for their national teams. Clearly, it's better to concede a goal by letting the opponent score than interfere with the play and get dosed with an own goal.

As for my dream girl Shakira...don't forget, she is half-Lebanese, which explains the sultry belly-dancing moves.

Good point, Agi. If I remember, the ball was heading goalward pretty rapidly, and Escobar slid & redirected it past the (out-of-position) goalkeeper.

I was psyched at the time, I'll admit, and happy it went in. But I didn't think Escobar made that awful a play until . . . The Events of a few days later.

(That, and I was still in awe of Freddie Rincon's speed & Carlos Valdarrama's hair.)

Shakira's belly may be from Lebanon, but her ass is straight from Colombia. Ohhhhhhh my.

here's the clip - yes, the keeper left the net wide open. He was expecting the US to cross the ball to the right and then attack, that is until Escobar got in the way.

Yeah, certainly not a good play on his part. But even forgetting the obvious insanity of SHOOTING him for the error, it wasn't the worst mistake I've ever seen.

It's kinda chilling to see the close up on his face. Literally like looking at a ghost.
